What is LiDAR?

LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) is an active detection method that uses light for measurement. Active detection is achieved by sending a signal and receiving its echo. In contrast, cameras are passive detection systems that receive ambient light as the signal. LiDAR calculates the distance of obstacles by measuring the time between laser emission and reception.
